I have a question about the Virginia EMT-B recertifications...

I am deployed with the Army until this coming November and my EMT cert expires this month. While, I seriously doubt I could do the recert here, I was hoping that maybe VA might have some sort of grace period, because I really really really don't want to retake that entire course all over again.  If anyone could shed some light on this process that would be really awesome.

I looked all over the VA OEMS website and I tried calling my training officer, but  can't find out anything on the OEMS website and my training officer is out of town right now.

Any help would be awesome.

Thanks in advance!!

Im 95% sure they will allow you to re-new your EMT when you come back because you are in the military...

you could have applied for an extention, but dont know if they would grant it but they may have. you really need to contact the office of EMS. if im not mistaken you will have to take the written test again if you let it laps. do you have all your con-ed hours?

I have very few con ed hours.. I was planning on taking the actual recert class.

I talked to my training officer via email today, and he said not to sweat, he would take care of getting me an extension.

Thanks a lot for the responses
