How was the training guys?  Worth it?  What is the issued firearm?  I heard it was a HK .40 cal of some sort.  I want to take the course as soon as I get some vacation time.  Thanks for any information.

My information is second-hand, but fairly uniform.

The course is awesome.  Instructors are fantastic, and regardless of your experience level, you will learn.

The TSA tends to be a pain to work with, and I know a few FFDOs that left the program due to the PITA of dealing with the TSA.

Most of the other particulars of the program are OPSEC, so you won't find a lot of open source information.

Yeah so it seems.  I've got a cousin who is a FFDO.  I'll have to give him a call.  I'll update with any info I get.

Last I heard, you bring the gun and pay for the certification.  The training seems very good, and you have to perform very well to get it.

Talked to my cousin today.  It's an HK USP Compact 40 cal that is standard issue.  It's given to you...free of charge.  The only thing you pay is $150 for food and board for the entire week of training.

That's pretty cool.  I spent some time where they trained and bach then you brought your own personal weapon of choice IIRC.
