Officers with shift differentials how are yours set up?

Our FOP is considering them for the next contract negotiation and we are looking for ideas.

You can post here or email me at [email protected]

Thanks

No help, but we get shot down on that one everytime. Think last time we got shot down we were only asking to 1 or 2%.

We get an extra  35 cents an hour for working nights.  I think it is from 0000-0600, or thereabouts.

Kind of a follow up to that....those of you that do get shift differentials, how do you get on shift?  Is it mandatory rotation, assignment, seniority bid, etc?  We have a seniority bid system and have been denied a differential because we get to choose our shift.  That is unless you are low man on the totum pole then more than likely you are stuck on graves for a bid or two.

we get a straight 800 a yr. We bid for shifts based on senority

Our shifts are the dart board method.  Any hours worked between noon and 2200 is a 5% differential and from 2200-0600 it's a 6% differential.

We get  $2.00 an hour between 3pm and 7am including overtime.
We get another $2.00 an hour on top of that for working weekends. (Sat & Sun).

We have several differnet rosters at work.
I'm on a 12 hour roster that is 2 backshifts, then 2 days shifts, 5 off so it changes regarding what days of the week you work.
It averages out to $350 clear every 3 months. That's when we get paid the shift diff.

We get .80 per hour from 1500 hrs to 0700 hrs.  This to include overtime pay as well.
We are still negociating our contract, don't know if this is one of the issues on the negotiating table or not.

Shifts are by seniority, rotate shifts 3x per year, can't be on the same shift more than two rotations w/o admin approval.  Shifts are T/W/Th/every other Friday 0600-1800 or 1800-0600 and S/S/M/every other Friday 0600-1800 or 1800-0600.  Graveyard, 1800-0600, gets a 5% differential.  The new guys get stuck on weekend graves for the most part.

I believe ours is $1.50 an hour from 1500-0600.  Shift is supposed to be by senority, unless you know someone or are doing someone, then you get whatever you want.

We get 12% night differential from 1600 to 0800.  This is based on the base annual salary hourly rate, when on OT it is 12% of our hourly overtime rate which we receive in two separate lump sum checks bi-annually.

Its Long Island you don't want to live here.  My taxes are around 7,000 a year for a house on a 30X60 Lot.  Well I guess I pay my salary.

Shift diff here is actually figured three ways. No one can keep track of it.

SH1 is weekdays 0600-1400.  SH2 is 1400 to 2400, SH3 is 2400 to 0600.   I THINK it's about a $4 difference between 1 and 3.

Holiday and weekend Shift Diff is factored separately too.  I have no idea how much.  This is in ADDITION to figuring time and a half for regular holiday time.

Doing time sheets is a good reason for a mental breakdown.

We have an .80 shift differential pay incentive.  If 50% or more of your shift is between the hours of 1500 and 0700 then you qualify for the pay.  Our bilingual pay is a flat $75 per month with no limitations on your secondary language, as long as you pass the verbal test.  We also have pay incentives for intermediate ($50), advanced ($100) and master ($150) peace officer accrediation certificates as well as pay incentives for education.

We don't get any shift differential pay. Hell we had to fight for 4% extra pay for FTO's. Then again we get paid pretty well in the first place, but it's damn expensive to live here.
