I've purchased under this program in the past. Great deal. Sometimes the boots are back-ordered.

Is it only Federal employees, or can local personnel get in on this?

Turn around on sunglasses was about two weeks when I did it over the summer, but had to wait four weeks for a pair of gloves.  Good program.

I've got their glasses and gloves but haven't purchased their boots yet.  I have had at least five people tell me that they're the most comfortable boots they've ever worn.  I prefer "real" boots that can be re-soled when needed but I plan to get a pair of the Oakley's based off of the recommendations I've been given.

boots are great with a caveat. i've gone through 2 pair in 2 years. undoubtedly the most comfty boots i've ever owned. from cruit boots, jump boots, danners, 5.11 HRT's et al, my oakleys were definitely the most comfortable. however, the outer sole tread sucked. they would wear to slick in about a years time. they also squeaked like mad on tile when wet. they were also basically traction-less on wet asphalt and brick. but they were comfortable while doing it.

oakley recently re-designed their boots. used to be all they had were SI boots and SI shoes. now they got 8 in boots, 6 in boots, and the shoes. the 6 in boots are the originals.  also, they redesigned the soles. supposedly the rubber is more durable, doesnt squeak, and is more comfortable. i haven't tried them so i cant say.

the usstandardissue program is open to all .mil and LEO. just fax (or email now) a copy of your creds and you're in. you have to do this every year as they dump accounts annually. there used to be a minimum order amount for glasses (not accessories) but i've heard they dropped that.

I was not aware of this program. Thanks for the link.

Does it have to be "group buy size" or can individuals purchase?

Also, what are the prices like? Are they discounted through this program or is just that only certain specialized models are available?

At my old department there was a guy hooked up with a program through Oklay; however, he mentioned something about his first order was a $2500 min and futures orders had to be at least $500.  I thought the prices were great, got a good deal on a pair of E Wires.

Does anyone know if an officer signs up can he make a single purchase or is there a minimum?

Thanks

Yeah, the website is the real deal.  I just recently placed an order and got the goods in like 3 days.  The SI boots (U.S. made version) is ok.  I got them when they were first introduced from Oakley a few years ago.  Their lighweight but I find they don't breathe as well as other boots.  They also squeak real bad on wet floors and such.  I still wear mine but not on wet days/nights.  The new pairs of boots have revised sole pattern and a few changes.  They are all now made in China.
