Say hypothetically you get a speeding ticket in SD with a drivers license from NM ...Would that ticket make it onto your driving record?????

Negative! You would have a record and license number in the state the violation happened. (However, you would be considered no-ops in that state)

Funny.. I just arrested a guy for a FTA warrant stemming from a ticket he got eight years prior. He had been driving through my state back then and then again when he was stopped by me and arrested....he didn't pay his fines from his first citation.

Wait, wait wait...let me get this straight. You stopped a guy gave him a ticket and he went on his merry little way then you stop him again 8 years later and arrest him for the same ticket that he failed to pay?????

It could.  It only depends on if your state has a compact agreement.  I don't know if SD and NM has an agreement but it certainly could end up on your record.  If there is a compact agreement one state could suspend your license from another state for failure to pay fines.  My city will suspend your license for failure to appear on certain traffic charges.  Usually just moving violations.

Also, if you didn't pay that fine, a warrant would get issued. The warrant probably wouldn't be entered into NCIC so your home state wouldn't know about it.  If you were to get stopped in the original state, well then you might get to be a guest there for a little while!!

I arrested a guy whose license was suspended after not paying a ticket in Kentucky.   He was driving on a suspended license in Kansas 2 years later.

If you did the violation, take care of your business.   Things typically turn against you at the worst possible time.

Holidays, Weddings, Birthdays, or on the way to the DR. etc.  Hypothetically speaking of course

I have 3 tickets that I got in Louisiana in 92 & 93 which still show up on my driving record here in Indiana....I just checked it again to confirm that.

Florida has reciprocity with all states except Mass. where your DL would get suspended in your home state for not paying a Florida citation...If you dont have a DL, Florida issues one, (In name only) then suspends it, so you would get busted sooner or later no matter what state your in..Florida takes its DL seriously just about any inmate doing
11/29 is for a driving violation (DUI or a suspension), as its a slam duck for the State Attorneys Office..(since they dont much take anything to trial !!)

I don't think Oregonjaf stopped the same guy. Another Oregon officer stopped him 8 years ago. Cruising back through their state, he was stopped by Oregonjaf and arrested on the previous officer's warrant.
