Just got off the phone with one of our supervisors. A co-worker and fellow IERT member was involved in a car accident last night. It snowed here and the roads were like grease. He apparently flipped his toyota 4x4. He had his son with him who is okay. Bill was rushed to our local hospital and air lifted to a bigger hospital in a neighboring city that is better equiped for back injuries. All we know at this time is he crushed 3 vertebrae but he can move his toes. A bunch of us team members are heading down Monday to see him. Keep him in your thoughts will you folks. |

One of the guys was down yesterday to see Bill. He's still heavily sedated (morphine) so we stood down on the visit. He has 2 cracked vertebrae and 3 compressed disks. The good news is..the Dr doesn't think he will have to operate. However..he will be in a back brace for quite a while. With in a matter of 2 days..all his shifts for the month of Dec and January were covered by fellow CO's who volunteered to work them so he won't lose any pay or sick days. A couple of us team members are going to get him a sweat shirt with "I.E.R.T Crash Test Dummy" embroidered on the front and "my broken back is behind me now" on the back.
