www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050708/NEWS01/50708009 Gary man turns in his victim's body Associated Press EAST CHICAGO, Ind. — A Gary man drove to a police station, told officers he killed a woman and showed them her body in the cab of his pickup truck, authorities said. Victor Guillermo Curbelo, 48, approached an officer Wednesday night in the city police station parking lot, saying he had just committed a murder and wanted surrender, according to an East Chicago police report. He gave an officer a handful of bullets and spent shells from a .357 Magnum handgun before pointing out the body, police said. Investigators believe the victim, 25-year-old Tryonica Dinkins, was killed in Gary, so the case was turned over to Gary police. Dinkins died of a gunshot wound in the back and investigators found signs of past physical abuse, Lake County Coroner David Pastrick said. Dinkins’ body was curled up in a fetal position on the front passenger floorboard, police said. Curbelo was being held in the Gary city jail on a preliminary charge of murder, Gary police Cmdr. Michael Nardini said. |
