For those of you who recently migrated from GT CT, just scroll down to get an update on Camy's status! For the rest of you JBTs  My ex-girlfriend and very best friend's name is Camy. At 33, she has finally decided to follow a recurring desire to enter the field of LE. She is currently enrolled at Everest college in pursuit of her CJ degree. Until such time as she completes her degree and is qualified to become an officer, she has decided to go with MCSO as a detention officer. Her background check is complete and she passed her poly with flying colors. She is stoked. I have been personally training her in a few of the martial arts and she has progressed well - well enough that my initial concern has subsided to a healthy degree. Her Kendo skills have tripled, and she is very well versed with mag lite, Asp, OC, and defensive tactics barehanded against an armed opponent. She is slow to master the wrist movements needed to effect a body weight twist for cuffing and still struggles with armbar locks and takedowns, but, again, she's getting there. So on to the update: Camy had her written test. She is at her final appointment, the physical, at this very moment. Her investigator has stated, indirectly, that she is accepted. In the BI's very words, "One of the best applications we have ever recieved." So, I thank everyone for their continued support and prayers, and ask that you not stop. We may not be the item anymore, but I love her like a sister and it would kill me if anything ever happened to her and I had to break the news to her daughters and son (who I love like my own). She's a sweet little girl; naive in her own ways, but with a heart of gold. I have little doubt she will be the consumate professional I giver her credit for. I would assume that upon successful completion of her physical and finalization of her paperwork she will be in line for the next academy rotation. Pray for her and keep a good thought in your mind and heart. For any of you who happen to be with the MCSO, please watch out for her and be the angel she needs. As men, we can bear the brunt of the consequences... But that Waterhouse (sp?) case where he kept that lady guard hostage and raped her keeps running through my mind. The longest standoff in AZ prison history, and Camy goes and joins. Sheesh. The good news is that she has progressed enough in her open hand techniques to automatically strike the right spot on the larynx to disable when she is disabled by other means. The bad news is that she is still my world, ol lady or not. I can't envision her needing to utilize her skills because she's in a situation that requires her to defend her life.
