My friend and I are going to school to become LEO's here in Indiana. We have a small company that we're just starting out called "Signal 10 Emergency Lighting Systems." We're producing LED lighting that is brighter and less expensive than any of the major producers of LED lighting. http://www.geocities.com/signal10els Our website hasn't been updated for awhile. But basically, you tell us what you want and we can build it. We're working on acquiring new LED technology, that will be far ahead of the game, so stay tuned. We do have a large amount of regular 5mm LEDs, as commonly found in most LED police/fire lights. Red, Blue, Amber and White. We got them all. Just an FYI, I don't mean to use this board as a means of business, but I thought that since there's so many LEO's on this forum and you guys have been help to me in the past, I thought I could be of help to you, and prevent you from buying overpriced lights from say..... GALLS! Thanks again, John |

Yea so far it's only on ARF and Glock Talk's LEO forums. The whole point of our company is to produce inexpensive lights that are brighter than the competition's. We also aren't marking up our products to the extent that everyone else is. Most LEDs are SO over-priced, it's amazing. So call it what you want. Anyone who is interested in a dashlight or two, let me know. |

tag for later. P.S. Which is brighter.... hyper bright or ultra bright? ![]()
Time to upgrade to a better server, methinks. |

Current draw is similar to standard LED lighting. We know that you can leave your car off, turn on your lights (LEDs), and let it sit overnight with no problems. Exact current draw I'm not sure, I'll find out - it depends on the specific number of LEDs etc. Mounting options and casing are custom made right now, we don't have a standard system yet. We can build just about anything, you name it. Amber products, same as red/blue lights - dash lights, rear decks, grills, and even exterior lighting, just not 360s. We haven't developed those yet... (I still prefer the MX7000 halogen 360s over anything else). |

Yea we're working on the website! I'll keep you advised on it. As far as hyper-bright, etc. etc. Don't believe it. Most companys such as 911EP, Code 3, Whelen, etc. are saying that they are now using "generation III" led technology. We are using state of the art LEDs, much ahead of what our competition is using. Our whole philosophy is brigher, less expensive lights for Law Enforcement. So I guarantee that our lights will be the brightest. We can still make the standard LED lights, just like Able2 makes. They are brighter than those, as we special ordered them. Red, White, Blue and Amber. Like I said, you name it, we can build it. We just did a front window mount light for a Deputy here in Indiana. It was an old "satellite" light that was gutted. We installed LEDs in it. And it's very impressive.. I'll work on getting the website set up better, with more updated pics. |
Ultra bright and Hyper bright terms were from YOUR website, not theirs. I'd love to see some photos of the stuff you're making. Our dept is doing a whole revamp of squads starting this year and should take a couple years to complete the changeover. |

Well the termanolgoy confuses me too, that's why I'm wanting to change the site around. Thanks for the heads-up though. As soon as we acquire these new LEDs, it will be remarkable. In the meantime, like I said, we have many of the standard 5mm LEDs that are more than enough for any application. The "hyper or ultra-bright" leds that we're workin on will be more expensive, but much brighter. Their life will be about the same, I believe. |

911 ep and others are using Luxeon stars. No standard 5mm led can compare. The new 3 watt luxeons in red are 140 lumens. That is more output than oh 100 reg 5mm leds. With the even brighter ones con=ming out os Seoul Semiconducter 184 lumens in white 3 wat and 250 lumens in 5 watt I beleive these are the cutting edge. When mounted in optice they drastically outperform standard or hyper leds. |

911EP uses the Luxeon Emitters, not the Stars. I was looking at one closely and in parts and saw the actual LEDs. www.theledlight.com/LuxeonLEDs.html Currently, we're using the Star w/ Optics on our bars on the video and pictures on our website: www.geocities.com/signal10els/signatureseries.htm Yes, those 3 and 5 watt 'LEDs' are very bright. However, quite expensive too. We can do a dash light with 8 luxeons @ 1watt, 1/2" thick, for about $75 with the flasher, I believe. We have also now found a way to make the Luxeon Stars w/ Optics brighter than what we had. This Summer we'll have more time to experiment and come up with new ideas & products. Updated website soon to come hopefully as well. |
Well, the one in the Explorer is mounted using 2 "L" brackets, just screwed into the headliner. It runs above the Rear View Mirror. We're working on something that would attach it to the sun shades, so you don't have to drill any holes. As far as durability testing on the casing... This casing will survive just about anything you put it to. Harsh weather, smashing, dropping, rain/snow, being hit with a sledge hammer , and anything else. Trust us, we've tested it...But to answer your question - it will fit anywhere you want it to. Many guys have camera systems running across the headliner, so we can work around that. We can make it a certain size with a certain number of LEDs - it's all up to the customer. We're pretty much perfectionists with our work. We're going as far as to check the window tint line, and how much that affects the light output, mounting, the simple aesthetics of the bar, and also how "stealthy" it is. If you install this above the AS1 line, which is the tint line, though your light will decrease slightly in brightness, it will be totally undercover. |

, and anything else. Trust us, we've tested it...
