is anyone here a member of policeone.com, I came across this website today and I tried to register but it asks for agency information to verify you are a law enforcement agent. I quit my registration because I wanted to see if you guys had any info on this website. Is it worth it, is it affiliated with any oranization that might get me in trouble at work if they call to verify I'm an agent. Thanks |

I am a member there also, however all I use it for is getting the pager updates they send out. The best Police forum I have found to date is realpolice.net. They have a restricted area also and call your dept to confirm status. It is a well maintained and fast site.... good stuff... I am over there as BikePatrol85 |

I've been a member there for 5 yeras or so. They do verify your status with youyr dept. I am also a member of the Calibre Press board, but it hasn't been the same since the "censorship incident" a couple of years ago. Their electronic Newsline messages are worth it though. Stay Safe! |

There was a calibre press employee that pissed everyone off after he took it upon himself to delete some posts that he didn't like. Alot of the regulars left and it really hasn't been the same since. I think the employee was reprimanded and removed from having any control over the message board, but the damage was done. The people who left mostly went to Police One and they hang out in the secure area in the "Clowns" forum (a reference to a disparaging remark that was made back on the CP board by a newbie w/ hurt feelings). |
| Ummmmm, that's not the incident that I recall. The female civilian moderator took it upon herself to openly reprimand a member by name on one of the forums after that member and an old timer got into a heated exchange. That moderator was then removed by the site staff. Some members sided with the junior member and the good ole boys regulars left in a huff. |

Yes, that was part of it .....but that was really just the the straw that broke the camels back for the "good ole boys"as you put it. W. Burroughs is the staff member that I was referring to though, not Donna. They didn't leave just because some members sided with the Junior member though. It went beyond that. |

I hadn't visited the board for a few weeks during all of this, but from what I understand, he deleted one or more posts that he didn't like. Some of the members called him on it and complained to CP and he ended up being removed from having anything to do with the board. I think that he may have left CP all together. There were alot of members who were pissed off that Donna had been removed from the board and I think that was compounded by W.B's abrasiveness. It really turned into a soap opera, which is really unfortunate. I used to check in almost every day as there some great posts....many relating to doing the job safely but also many that just made you chuckle and relax for a minute. Now I barely seem visit it more than once a month. |
