My department recently purchased Glock 22s to replace our S&W 5906s. I have been looking at putting on a light on it. The people that made the decisions in their “infinite wisdom” decided that we should stay with the Safariland level 3 holsters that we had (they did get the correct holster for the gun, not trying to use old ones) to save on training. This means that if I use a weapon light I have to remove it to re-holster (bad idea). I have been looking at different lights.  I have come up with the Surefire X200, Stream light M3, M3x, M6 or even some of the other surefire weapon lights. I don’t believe I want one with the pressure tape because it will have to come back off before re-holstering. For the experts out there please help me decide.  Also I will need some way of carrying the light with me.

Some co workers have purchased the m6 but I am not sure a laser is all that useful for me.

We have the M3X mounted on our rifles. They are working well. Your can get a pouch to carry them on your duty belt. They are pretty quick both on and off the weapon. There aren't many security holsters that will hold the weapon with a light mounted. Most of those designs are for tactical usage. I know it's not the best situation to have to take the light off before holstering. Good Luck.

We just changed to Glock 22s from Beretta 96s and got the level 3 Safariland ss070 holsters. I looked at the lights and ended up getting a Glock light. Uncle Mike's has a light carrier that fits on a duty belt and has a plastic rail that you slide the light on. So far it's worked pretty good but I still might find a pouch to carry it in.

If I were in the same situation, I'd buy an X200, and a belt clip for M3 (works with X200).

Taking the X200 on and off the weapon is not that big of a deal if the weapon has tac rails,,,, except I don't have to because I bought a duty holster that accommodates my Glock and X200.

We are switching from the Smith 4046 to the SW99 around the begining of the year.  It is still a toss-up if we will be allowed to have weapon lights or not.  If, and that a big if, we are allowed to use weapon lights we wont be able to keep them mounted.  Its all good though, I'll just stick to using my Surefire.  I dont plan to fumble around trying to mount and dismount the light.

BTW, I'm not a fan of the lvl 3 Safariland holsters.  I'm perfectly happy with my Lvl 2.

We are issued a M-3 with our glocks and most of us carry on a belt carrier. I put mine in an OC pouch(more security). I put a rail on my rifle so now I can slide it on my long gun when I need it.
The Glock light dosen't look like it will fit in an OC pouch. A few SWAT guys have moved up to the X200 led light very nice peice of gear.
