Well after waiting a week, I found out last night when I reported to work that I was selecetd for promotion to Corporal, effective 4-15-04. Was between two other solid officers and myself, hate to have had to compete against them but I guess there could only be one promotion at this time. I had 20 months prior time as a Corporal with a larger Dept. prior to moving home to FL, I guess that made a BIG difference. Feels good to have the stripes back, now off to FTO school next Monady for two weeks. |

Actually, I enjoy teaching. I FTO'ed for about 1 1/2 years at my last Department and really enjoyed watching a new officer see/experience the "book" way and the "real life" way, and then blend them all together to know how to do the right thing at the right time. There's no better feeling than when an officer tells you "thanks" for taking the time to help them learn and grow in the profession. In this day in age, anyone willing to go 10-8 with me deserves my attention and respect. I'm looking forward to my next chunck of "clay" to mold. |
