Know any corrupt coppers? How bad is it, really?

Met a few of 'em on a trip to Costa Rica.... they'd set speed traps to pull you over and then shake you down for money.  It was fun after the second time, almost like haggling with a street vendor.  We ended up trading an AC/DC tape and a pair of cheap sunglasses to get out of the third ticket.  I miss those corrupt Costa Rican cops, they we're beginning to seem like friends!

I met some in Mexico once. They escorted me to the local ATM machine, then when that didnt work, they took all the cash I had. Bastards.

I've heard Jamaica is bad also.  Went there in January, but didn't go too far from the resort to have to deal with anything.  An EMT I know was there a year ago and was talking to a local who told her that he got his pot from one of the cops that had confiscated it.  He re-sold it and split the profits with the cop.  

My brother was there a couple of months ago and saw a guy get taken out of the airport.  He figured the guy must have been trying to bring back some wacky weed, because he acted real nervous and didn't want his bag searched, DUH!  the guy's wife asked them where they were taking him and all that they told her was he'd find out.  

Met a few in China. My friend, who has a tour company there pays them off all the time as a matter of doing business.

Take it back to the pit, ass.
