May have posted a while back, but I'm looking again.

Looking at "achieve test prep". I've got a Bach Sci degree right now, wanna go nursing but would have to do online. This course appears to be basically a CLEP test prep, then you take CLEP tests, test out of taking the classes, and they partner with a college that issues a degree so you can take NCLEX.

Anyone familiar with this program? Good to go? Scam?

I don't qualify for many other online bridge programs because I dicked around in college and don't have the GPA for a competitive entry program.

If anyone has used that course please chime in. I'm aware of Excelsior, but to the most recent of my knowledge they are awaiting a go/no go for continuing their accreditation in TX.

The real question is how far do you want to go as a nurse?  I think that the Achieve Test Prep program really only partners with Excelsior (and maybe a few others with similar accreditation), and considering that competitive tertiary centers with specialties (OR, ER, ICU, cath lab) turn away plenty of new grad applicants with brick and mortar Associate's and BSNs every quarter, you'd be pigeon-holing yourself.  My employer (multistate system) won't even hire Excelsior grads.  Same for military nurse commissions: BSNs from AACN-accredited programs (Excelsior is ACEN) only.

If you just want to churn out a license and make bank working at a rehab, SNF, LTAC or smaller hospital this is how you do it.  But if you want a high-acuity gig that will pad your resume for a flight job or niche specialty, you can't fast-track it.

I am currently in the excelsior program. I see where you said you were waiting to see what happens with TX. If you change your mind and have any questions let me know. While working 2 paramedic jobs for me it was the best option.

I am also currently in Excelsior with 1 class to go. I really don't recommend it. I also would be very wary of third party publishers like Achieve test prep, College Network, Rue Education. All they are is regurgitating material that would already be provided to you through the ECE (Clep) versions of Excelsior's tests and if you ask me that is what i'd consider a scam. I know 2 people that have purchased thousands of dollars of "prep" material from College network and ended up with nothing to show for it. Personally I would suggest a fast track BSN to RN program through a legitimate state college or university. It would be difficult to do clinicals and whatnot i'm sure but you won't have to worry about accreditation and taking the nightmare CPNE with Excelsior.
