I'm not LE (and don't normally visit this section of the forum), but I work with a couple hundred PD officers and felt that I should post this.
Didn't know Mason... and this happened 200 miles west of where I'm at, but I stood with my hat off in show of respect as the LE escort drove by with his body this afternoon (headed to our local coroner). http://www.ktvq.com/story/35443376/officials-release-name-of-montana-deputy-killed-tuesday |

Thank you for that gesture of respect. Mason was a friend of mine and if you knew him, you would have no doubt he was worthy of it.
I am traveling to MT from SC for his funeral. It will be very bittersweet as I've always wanted to visit MT, but not ever under these circumstances. |

I'll be the piper in SC. Try to stop over and say hello. If you are who I think you are, you are very talented and have been at other services I've attended. Thank you for your service to fallen officers and their families and friends. |

Still makes me think WTH??? when I contemplate this senseless act. That a devoted family man and community asset should lose his life so that a couple of cowards could drum up some excitement on the way out of their miserable existences is just messed-up.
Anyways... I don't mean to sour the show of respect that I intended this thread to be (and that it has been). Just wanted others to know that Mason's death affected thousands of people across Montana... most of whom had never even met him. |
