There is a thread in GD about the Challenger disaster. I mentioned that folks should watch the Mike Mullane video about the normalization of deviance. But, it really belongs here in the BOTS with folks in risk management and especially those supervising and leading others in hazardous professions. EVERYTHING we do has inherent risks. We don't consciously apply Risk Mitigation or ORM to normal life choices but we still do.
Normally as the risk vs payoff gets farther apart we then tend to lean toward our training. This is not just our physical risks but also other types of risks to include fiscal risks. |

Just getting to work involves risk. But it's low risk/high frequency so we can almost do it in our sleep. That reminds me of another excellent video that never gets old.
