A few years ago a company came out with an outershell for ballistic vists that looked like the torso of a uniform shirt.  It was made to wear over a uniform and had pockets and a badge tab.
Does anyone know if these are still made?  I have heat rash issues wearing the vest under the uniform and have tried everything, even went to a Dr.  The quilted cover  for winter wear works great, but I need something for summer.

Any tailor can do it for you. Just give them a shirt and exterior vest carrier, and tell them what to do. I looked high and low for a shop that mass produced them, and couldnt find one, however there is a shop in I think Chicago, that had a Border Patrol contract at one point, and they put out good stuff. Dont quote me on it, but it might be these guys. (JG Uniform Inc
5949 West Irving Park Road, Chicago, IL 60634(773) 545-4644 ) I had a nearby shop make mine, and it works.

Kay9, you gave me the good info.   JG Uniforms makes them and they "guarantee perfection".  Thanks.

I got my vest carrier from JG Uniform about two years ago.  I like it alot.  Some of the guys I work with say it does not look as good, but I find it much more comfortable.  My carrier has lasted a long time, but to keep it looking new dry clean only.  After too many times in the wash it will fade and look bad.

Also, make sure JG knows that you want the shoulder straps to conect the front/rear strike faces.  If you do not do this, the strike faces will not rest on your shoulders, but rather just sit inside the carrier pouch.  This places the strike face too low on the body and causes wear.  In short, the measurements are very important.  I saw alot of guys have the waist area of the carrier wear out fast from this problem, and some guys even damaged the vest.  My department had someone come to an officer's meeting and traced each strike face onto paper to be sent in for a proper fit.

To be clear, I am not busting on JG Uniform.  I would buy another vest carrier from JG in a minute.  Well worth the money.  The measurement thing was a lesson learned the hard way from cops that were never authorized to wear an exterior carrier until a few years ago.
