I need to buy body armor for work. Looking for IIIA but the only armor I have used have been issued IE military/law enforcement.

However now that I have to personally buy it I would like some recommendations. It has to Be under my uniform no outer vests allowed.

After some google searches there seem to be a lot of companies even with NIJ only.

SKD..and a few other industry partners listed here sells body armor. I would check with them first or do a search for related threads.

I've got a SurvivalArmor vest.  It's pretty stiff and hasn't broken in the way I hoped it would.

Myself and my wife (different agencies) were both issued Point Blank.

I like my US Armor. It seems to be a bit more on the light and thin side than some others. Whatever you do though, don't go for the cheapest and get it custom fitted.

I have a Point Blank as well. Purchased it at Bodyarmoroutlet.com. Very easy to do, they will want you to take measurements for a correct fit, how much overlap you want, etc. I talked with one guy through the whole process. He contacted me when shipped from manufacturer to him and again when it shipped from his place to me. I think they are in Connecticut. They have tons of options depending on what fit you are looking for. IIIA is heavier, stiffer, more expensive, and more difficult to conceal than most IIA.

With IIIA some people may even joke that you will be used as the ram....

Thanks guys. I am leaning towards point blank. Sadly I will have to wait until after my first pay check. OJT starts soon but it's just govt security so it shouldn't be to bad.

I liked my safariland vest better than my current point blank one.
