So my bass ackwards department decides it's more concerned with what handcuff case we have, then our own personal safety. Anywho, anyone have any suggestions on closed-topped handcuff cases. Not sure if I want a double or a single, but wont something that takes up as little room on the belt as possible. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance. |

All handcuff cases are similar honestly. I do prefer a case with a snap, as compared to Velcro. In many instances bad guys hear Velcro and know what's coming....then the foot chase is one. Just look at safariland gear they make good stuff. Also, some products will be limited by material (basket weave, kydex, nylon etc). The double cases are nice but the ones we have are just way too thick.
I run a cuff case at the 1 o'clock position on my belt and then a spare behind my radio on my non reaction side. Guess it just depends on what is most functional for you and what falls within the SOP at the agency. |

I carry the Safariland slim ones with a snap. More or less side by side on my back. What's your safety concern? None, apparently this is what our new bosses are going to have it out for. I currently carry two open top cases, with the snap through the center of the cuff. I need to have one closed top cuff case. But the issued one takes up way to much room on the belt, so would like to find a slimmer one that fits SOG's, but is more user friendly than what is issued. |

Do you have any room on the front ? I always carry one set of cuffs in a case just in front of my holster. It's out of the way and it allows me to access my cuffs when I'm unable to get to the ones on the back of my belt. I was taught that open top anything is bad, its just another thing for the bad guy to grab for when you are going to the ground or fighting in general. I am a HUGE fan of safariland anything, and I highly recommend a safariland double cuff case at 1 o clock. I carry a set of hinge and a set of chain in my double cuff case. |
| I have had a leather Don Hume double cuff case, with a hidden snap on my belt for the last three years. I love it. It's rigid enough to close it easily and still takes a decent shine. At the time when I bought it, I handled a Safariland double case as well, but went with Don Hume. By now I don't remember what tipped that decision. |
