Any ATF guys in here?
Just applied yesterday for an investigators spot. |
|
AFAIK we've never had someone publicly announce that they are BATFE on this or any other gun board I've read.
I am wondering if there isn't some agency policy that forbids them, but then of course if someone comes here for fun the last thing they want to be subjected to is the ATF hate from some folks here. |
|
Of all the fed agencies I've dealt with, I've found the ATF to be the easiest and least bureaucratic to work with (at least on the enforcement end of things).
I've also had predominantly good experiences with ICE, USMS, and HUD OIG. (You wanna mess w/ section 8 folks, HUD OIG are the go to guys) |

Isnt evilATF an ATF agent? |

As I've posted in several of the "X the ATF" threads - the firearms investigators I've encountered were all EBR shooters and strong believers in RKBA - by law abiding citizens. The fire & explosives guys were all top-notch. I've dealt with some of the arson/bomb guys, and some of the OMG guys. Top notch dudes. And their accelerant K9's are incredible. |

I have no issues with the majority of BATFE Ground Pounders. It's the Brass that I have issues with.
-SS ETA: And OP, best of luck. There was over 17,000 applicants for my agency two years ago, and they're only hiring less than 300 this year. It's a long tough road. Do whatever you can to get your foot in the door with the Agency you're trying for. Even if it's an Admin type... once you're known for being a hard worker and not a whiner... people will notice you. |

once you're known for being a hard worker and not a whiner... people will notice you. It's amazingly easy to stand out in this profession when you do your job and don't bitch (maybe even enjoy your work!) or engage in any other douchebaggery. +1 for the suggestion on getting in on the admin side first if the LE side is full. Great way to get your foot in the door. |

There used to be one that quite openly posted as an ATF agent. Been a couple of years, can't remember his screen name. On second thought the guy I'm thinking of might have been from the technology branch. ATF_DAN or NFA_Dan? or something like that.... His name is Dan.
