If y'all don't mind sharing on an open forum, what do you do for second jobs (if you have one, that is)? I'm looking to get some extra scratch and was curious what kinds of work everyone does outside of their regular job. I'm not a hosebeater so I don't have the luxury of long stretches of time off at once

I work at Big Blue Home Improvement Store part-time. Hell of a nice change of pace when the biggest problem is, "hey, man, you got any nicer 2x4s than these?" instead of "my baby ain't breathin'!"

back when I "had" to work a second job it was construction stuff, decks, basements etc on the side.

My Agency doesn't allow moonlighting unless there is written consent from the Chief (special circumstances). Fortunately, I do well enough that I don't need a second job, so it's a moot point.

Edited for clarity

They are about to start up a full time PD.  The new chief asked me last week if I was interested in coming on board.

Same pay. 1500-2300 shift. Monday-Friday. Health insurance premiums will be tripled though.

Several of my coworkers told me to turn it down, since there should be an opening with the Detective Bureau, and I'm the next one to get it.

I did not know this. PM or text inbound with questions regarding an incident. Also, heading up your way this afternoon, don't know how much free time we'll have but thought I'd say hi!

I'm retired now, but when I was working, I was full time FD, worked part time as an officer for another city and Air National Guard and even drove an ambulance for a couple of years. Seems weird to not be working anywhere now.

After years of training and working crashes I started a Crash Reconstruction and 3D Animation business.

Web page is www.Signal4.org

I've got a few clients from law firms doing reconstructions and 3D animations for them.
Not a ton of money or steady money but it paid for a computer upgrade, software, and outfitting a home office.

Years ago I delivered pizza off duty, worked tons of construction sites doing traffic control........
