EDITORIAL: Obama missing: National Police Week President is present for rapper, absent for cop memorial Sunday, May 15 is the 30th annual Peace Officers Memorial Service. Law enforcement from all over the country gathered in Washington for National Police Week to honor fallen comrades-in-arms. Too bad President Obama couldn’t be there. Despite being invited to speak to the widows, children and friends of the 165 officers recognized this year as killed in the line of duty, he somehow didn’t think it was important to trek the two miles from the White House to the Capitol Building to participate. Perhaps it’s because Mr. Obama historically has had a conflicted relationship with law enforcement. [more at link] |

Remembered or forgotten by the Obama White House, the families and friends of those killed in the line of duty weren’t expecting to be insulted during the week they remember their dead. On Wednesday, the White House hosted a poetry night at which rapper Common, author of at least one work praising a convicted cop-killer, performed.

“Flyer say Free Mumia on my freezer,” he raps in another. Mumia Abu-Jamal is an incarcerated former member of the Black Panther Party who was convicted in 1981 for killing a Philadelphia police officer. Agitating for his release from prison has become a cause for many leftwing activists. Common named his daughter after Assata Shakur, a Black Panther who was convicted of first-degree murder 1977. She escaped from prison and exiled to Cuba. The FBI recognizes her as a domestic terrorist. |

I did not attend either.
Of course, I did not attend due the fact that I STAYED BEHIND TO COVER THE BEATS SO WE'D HAVE THE COVERAGE TO SEND GUYS WHO HAD NEVER BEEN. As least he got some golf in. Nothing he does even registers with me anymore. I'm personally thrilled he didn't attend. No one had to hear him spew bullshit about our career choice. I'm sure he'd backhand our profession in some manner. |

I didn't attend either. Someone had to stay behind and chase cows. Don't laugh........We had a call at 0300 of a herd of cows walking down one our main 5 lane roads. I thought for sure the call was Bullshit or the caller was a drunk calling dispatch. I get there and I'm like: "Holy shit" Zombie cows....about 100 of them just walking slowly 7 to 8 cows wide right down the middle of the highway. Came from a farm miles down out in the County. .........just when you thought you can't make shit up.
