Brothers and Sisters,
I need to get a tac light for my pistol, looking at model ST-69210, which is the TLR-1 with the strobe. Anyone know of a reputable place to pick this up at a good price? Anywhere I should look at that has a LEO discount? Thank you, Phoenix13 |

dont bother with the strobe, it sucks just as bad for you as it does the suspect.
Also, you can't get remote pressure switches for the streamlight weapon lights down the road if you decide that you want one. On the plus side, they're cheaper and i think a little brighter than the X-200 and X-300's. |
| They are pretty comparable anywhere you can find them. I ordered through Botach Tactical when they sent out a coupon. I have the TLR-1S and the TLR-1 and do not notice much of a difference. The strobe feature is fun to play with but requires a quick double tap with the finger to activate it. I honestly do not think a person would be able to activate it in a hostile situation quickly. The loss of fine motor skills would make it nearly impossible without a ton of drills. |

Not as much field experience as the guys using it out there, but I have played with the strobe feature. (I have the TLR-1s)
I tested it on friends. 20ish males and females. In daylight-dusk, it didn't effect my vision as the user at all. When I aimed the light at their faces, they all had much more debilitating reactions to the strobe versus the light by itself. I put that in the win column. They designed a pretty nifty feature if you train to use it while under stress. Interesting observation, once inebriated, the strobe function didn't seem to have an effect at all on anyone, including myself. For the record: -Test group of 10, mixed males and females. Varying body types from very petite to somewhat husky. Everyone was between 20 and 29. Pretty equally effective against all. -Tested during sunny day, cloudy evening, moonless night, well lit interior room, and dark interior room. Most effective in lit interior room. -Tested aiming light at the ground/wall, individual's chest, and individual's face. Most effective if aimed at neck/face. -Safety: I was using the weapon light by itself, not on a weapon. Ha, I didn't point a gun at anyone's face. The gun it goes on was actually left at my mother's house. -Debilitating effects were usually the target having to close their eyes, turn their head 90 degrees, put both hands up to their face and when I side stepped, they couldn't accurately locate me. Perhaps a future Force-on-Force airsoft test will be in the works... |

And yes, the TRL-1 does have pressure switch capability, though I don't think the OP would need that on a pistol Streamlight TRL package |

Also brightflashlights, a supporting bussiness here has them for 104 shipped. I got mine from them quickly. +1, and they told me how to disable the strobe function. How the heck do you do it, I tried doing what the manual says and it doesn't work. |
