| Anyone ever use a PR-24 made of anything other than plastic? If there is such a thing (wood or metal), where can you get one? Not talking about the collapsable type either. |
| Not sure what you need it for. If it's for patrol work, this probably won't help. But the PR-24 is based off the Okinawan Kubudo weapon called a Tonfa, and they are made in many types of hardwood. It was originally a grain hill handle, which the Okinawans learned to use as a weapon while living under tyranical rule with island-wide weapons bans. |

I'm looking into replacing my collapsable one and found one I like here for $30.
BJohnson: Thats the one with the swivel on the handle, right? When I got certified, that's what I borrowed because mine didn't come in the mail quick enough |

No; in the "Twenty Year Ago Affair", ours were all made out of the polymer.......as well as the nightsticks and the truncheon. Not sure where we picked up the last one, it floated around the department, was never used, and probably resembled something used in interrogation via sexual assault.
Speaking in that sphere for a moment........had a Marine who told my patrolman that he would take the nightstick (polymer) and shove it to him where the sun doesn't shine.......which got him before the Captain. At Captain's Mast, "When you told my patrolman that you would shove that night stick up his a**, you were saying that to me!" At any rate...... We did have a lesser night stick for issuing to mass forces that was wooden. It was designed to break if it was swung, with contact, with excessive force. On the PR-24, a side note. I recall from back then a line of thought that noted it could be an effective weapon in defeating someone armed with nunchucks. _____________________________________________________________________ ("C'mon baby, gimme some sugar. We have a couple wooden PR24 types in the store room that just collect dust. Dunno where they came from as they predate me. Everyone here is issued a collapsible (ASP) and a straight hardwood (Bar-check) baton
Gotta love these no-help posts
