So I know I should not be all excited about doing what I am supposed to do, but after 3yrs
with the SO here, I finally shot a perfect qualification target, and damnit, I'm excited. I usually
shoot 118 or 119 out of the possible 120, and that is just frustrating.

So the monkey is off my back and I'm happy about it. Now I just gotta keep on doing it.

Good job on the perfect.  I don't always shoot a perfect on quals either, so it feels good when I do.  But missing 1 or 2 shots also makes you want to practice and bear down more for next time, so it all equals out.

better yet, some of us intentionally sandbag it, that way when you go to court you dont have some moron asking why you didnt shoot the gun out of the suspects hand with your super sniper skillz.

Im not sure that scenario is likely to ever happen, but i figure it cant hurt either. Im pretty well know at work for being able to shoot anyway.

We shoot a 250 point qual course.  5 points for each shot, 50 rounds.  6 from 25 yd, 12 from 15, 14 from 7, and 18 from 3  (4 of the 3yd rounds are failure drills, head shots in a small box o the head)

I find if I only practice from the 25 and 15 when I go to the range, it is effective.  But shooting from 7, then working my way out to the 25 concentrates the fire.

As a firearms instructor, I have found that concentrating focus on the front sight is the #1 way to get shooters to become better.  Combine that with a smooth trigger pull, and you will shoot the lights out.

Keep up the good work.  It took me a few years to get a perfect score, it was always elusive.  Now I rarely don't, but it takes practice and confidence in knowing your weapon.
