 j/k.... that's awesome.  I'm jealous.... I'm *almost* done, just have a few more odds and ends to pick up. And the baking shall commence TODAY.  Jams/Jellies, fudge, several kinds of cookies, cheese balls, death by chocolate brownies, dipped pretzels, etc etc etc...... I'm hoping that one of these years my MIL will teach me how to make her famous chocolates and caramels.

Never realized so many Baklava fans lived on ARFcom! My hubby no like (doesn't do sweets) and my kids prefer the Italian cookies I make. I will be baking today and tomorrow. Impending storm...another on Sunday...so....Whilst cursing the weather, I shall bake. |
fsk I will bake Christmas cookies and mail them to you! that way you will have a full supply.  *** small disclaimer: my baking is pretty good, but I am still working on achieving Betty Crocker amazing status. lol

Done??? Its only the 13th!  Show off. I'm about 80% done, with a few things I'll be chasing around for right up til the 23rd. I REFUSE to shop past then, so if I don't have it, it's not happening. I've done all (most) of the big things, so just have stocking stuffers, filler, and a few quirky, hard to find things I'm still hunting for. I made the mistake with my oldeat of wrapping Santa gifts, so have a LOT of work ahead. I bake all the time, so just have to add in around 10 dozen cookies next week.. Oh yeah, and gift cards for teachers, relatives. Oh...oh SHIT!! I haven't done Christmas cards yet.   Sigh. |

Me neither...and I have stocking stuffers to get too. But the big stuff is done and I am sufficiently in debt for awhile thanks to it. Fark. Nearly done paying off the screened porch we built last Spring and then Christmas had to show up. Wonder if the three kings had these issues??? |

Good god. I can't believe I forgot the annual Christmas card photo. I think I mentally blocked that day of hell out of my mind, until I started thinking about it here. Its your fault PMM!! I just sent a frantic e-mail to a good friend, who recently took a picture of all the kids at a game....and if its not blurry, and she comes through, its my damn card. BAM. I miss my granmother's homemade Christmas candy(Martha Washington candy and Divinty), and my mom's homemade coconut pies, and my other grandmother's German choclate cakes. (I think I almost died once from overeating those when I was about 12 or so. I know now I was probably in some kind of diabetic emergency, though I'm not a diabetic. )ETA to add types of candy! Note the coconut relativity. Yummmmmm.

 That's what E22CAPT's mom makes every year. Those and her almond roca.... I think I put on 15 pounds just with those chocolates every dang year!

Amateur... my shopping was done by the end of November, everything wrapped by the 1st of December... baking done, see my thread in Team. Seriously, you ladies act like there is some sort of challenge to the holidays. You all just need better time management skills.

I love being part of a thread that I didn't even know existed!!!! PM, you're so good to me. You know I love ya more than my luggage. Today is 12/21. My boyfriend, to date, has bought for 1 person. lol. Fortunately for me, we went shopping together weeks ago when he felt rich and he bought me a new watch and winter boots. Good thing, too, cuz methinks he's out of money, and he still has many gifts to buy with his check today. Men. When will they learn? honestly. |
| My shopping is done and my wrapping is ALMOST done. The truly insane part of this Christmas is that since we are both actually HOME for a couple of weeks, my beloved husband got the completely batshit crazy idea of doing some home remodeling projects. Yes, throughout the Christmas holiday. The outside of the house is now almost (one more day should do it!) finished, with a lovely new paint job, as well as new porch lights and house numbers. Tomorrow will be spent cleaning out the garage so that there is room to move EVERYTHING from the back room into the garage. The day after Christmas we begin replacing the windows in that room, removing and sealing up a window that connects to another room, applying stucco to two of the walls, and installing Saltillo tile on the floor. In the meantime, I have to make new curtains. LOL Who the hell does that shit over CHRISTMAS?!?!?! |

 I finished up my shopping today. Tonight actually. Now I just have to wrap 70+ gifts, bake 20 dozen cookies, a batch of fudge, pick up the Honeybaked ham, and build 2 scooters, IN BETWEEN going to a formal party tomorrow night, a visit from my mother on Sunday mid day, a party Sunday night, and a big, fat, stressful get together Monday night...where I was tasked with bringing an involved course. Eta: All that while dealing with over excited, bouncing off the walls kids. I'm flying somewhere on Wed. It really doesn't matter where.  |
