Why is the office help at the dentist's office such a bitch? Why, when you ask about insurance coverage does the receptionist go tell the nurses that you are not having your procedure done today, so they don't need to set up the room? Why does she tell you the price for a procedure is $1600 and then when you go to pay for it tell you it is $2000? And then call you a liar when you say "ummmm, I don't think so"? Even after you present your paperwork given to you at the consultation. Why does she tell you you will have to call back for an appointment because she "don't have her new book" and then when you ask if you call back is it gonna take a month to get in (because it has each of the last three times you have called) does she tell you it has NEVER taken anyone that long to get a appointment in the year she has been there? Oh, and then another girl brings the "new book" up (it was around the corner in the next room). Do I just look like I sit around all day pulling stuff out of my ass to irritate the receptionist? If you are a receptionist, wouldn't you think that you would expect to have to interact with clients ocassionally. I know when I was a receptionist that was a primary duty, but apparently times have changed, because I was not the only client she was treating this way. And apparently we all were liars and cheats and just there to make her life miserable. Like I ENJOY going to the dentist. ![]() Okay, I feel better now. (Well, except for my mouth - it hurts like a mofo. I am gonna take a pill and go to bed. It will be better in the morning, I am sure. |

Most dentists *typically* hire their help on the basis of looks and 'airheadedness' rather than competency. A huge dental proctice my typically have one mature, competent office manager to actually get things done, but the rest of the staff are more or less eye candy. |

Find another office, and make sure you tell the doc exactly why you are walking. Especially with disposable income dollars for an implant. BTW, WTF is up with 3 months of Ab's??? That is so wrong it is scary. In fact, it is dangerous. I am curious as to the possible justification for such a recommendation. |
OK, the antibiotic regimen is not for treatment of infection, but for management of gum problems. It is usually done with doxycycline, but tetracycline is acceptable managment. When you mentioned 3 months and an implant, I made the ASSumption that he was attempting to avoid infection during the healing period. My bad. That still does not excuse the behavior of his staff. Let him know it is unacceptable, and you will leave the practice if it is not corrected. Then do it. |
OK, thanks for letting me know that. I know just enough about medicine to be a pain in the ass sometimes, because I am paranoid about everything. I thought GC was gonna divorce me when I had rotator cuff surgery because I was terrified of being put under general anesthesia. I had managed to have abdominal surgery, a c-section and a hysterectomy, all without "going under" and was not pleased that I could not get them to handle my shoulder surgery with sedation and a local. Hey, fear can make you a little irrational sometimes. ![]() I have only taken two pills and am already throwing up. It is gonna be a great 3 months. ![]() And as far as his staff goes, this one gal seems to really have a stick up her butt. The rest of his staff is very professional and courteous. That said, next time I am in, he will know how I feel about how she treats not only me, but how I have seen her treat other clients also. |
