The Monk spent the day talking to recruiters for the Marine Corps Reserves and Air Force Reserves. He has prior service as a Marine and wants to serve again, preferably The Corps (Mortuary Affairs to be specific) but he is also looking into the big blue, as well. Any advice, suggestions, good places to go for info, etc.? In a way this will be new to me - we started dating just before his last deployment and married after he got out and that's been awhile ago. -Mrs.Monk |

Let us know what happens. Go to Barnes and Noble or Amazon.com There are books you can get to help you deal with deployments. Read and head the advise in them. The best advise I can give you is when talking to them while deployed keep everything as up beat as you can. Even if things aren't that great. They need to keep their heads on straight. Write lots of letters, send pics and packages, because the little things from home mean alot. Also let us know if there is anything we can do. My best wishes. |

Thanks all. I will check out the book selection at B&N and such. I know there will be a deployment in our future just don't know when. He is meeting with the Gunny today at 1:00 and then the unit. Hopefully we will have some dates for some of the training, etc. My entire family thinks he is nuts. His family doesn't know yet. I know there will be challenges ahead but I know we'll be fine. He keeps asking if I'm sure I'm okay with this. What I think is funny is that I've known for years he'd go back in the service in some form or fashion - this didn't surprise me at all. I was just waiting for him to catch up. -Mrs.Monk |
He's not nuts, trust me. I also know if hubby could get back in he would be there in record time. Check out Barnes and Noble on line and see if you can get the books cheaper through Amazon. Best of luck to you. Keep us updated and if we can do anything let us know. |
