I got my first speeding ticket today Went to pick up my mom in Seattle and was coming home, got to daydreaming and got clocked doing 82 in a 70. Just bummed me out because I never speed, I am usually so careful. Have to say the cop was really nice looking though, if I'm gonna get a ticket at least it was by someone who was nice to look at

Too bad...but at least he was cute!Try to fight it, maybe he won't bother to show up. If he does, just admit guilt and get another good look at him

I had a sad day too. I found out I have osteopenia (T-score was -2.1) and might have to give up beer and caffiene. How do they expect a girl to survive without beer and caffiene

I may have some good news for you. Since you have not had a ticket before, you may be able to take a deferral on this ticket.  Basically what this is you pay a fine but no ticket or points show up on your license. Your insurance company is not notified etc. There is a catch though, you can not be cited for another speeding violation within a certain amount of time after the deferral is granted. Which shouldn't be a problem since you don't habitually speed. Once the time frame is up, the ticket is wiped clean like it never happened.
Call the county or city traffic court where the ticket was issued and ask them about it.

Why can I not have the cute ones pull me over.

I had a speeding ticket (19 over I think it was ) in Wisconsin a couple of years ago and the scammy thing about it was a law firm sent me a letter immediately after to "take care" of the ticket. It was then reduced to a non-moving violation - defective equipment. Depends on your state laws, in Texas you can also get rid of the ticket by taking a defensive driving course. Lots of options...

Thanks..... I will try it. All my family is giving such a hard time because I was the only one who hadn't had a ticket. The weird thing is I had a feeling I was going to get pulled over when I went into Washington. Left my gun at home because I knew they didn't recognize my permit from Oregon and I didn't want to take a chance. Good thing I followed my hunch. I didn't have any idea I was going that fast, just following along with the traffic and thinking about my kids. Oh well.....

Same thing happened to me in RI: got a $75 ticket (by an extrememly young good looking cop who was NOT swayed by tears...dammit!) . Two mos later, I appeared in court, pleaded guilty but asked for leniency based upon my driving record, paid the $25 court fee and have to stay outta speed traps in RI for 3 years.
Stayed off my record and all was good.
Except traffic court in Pawtucket is a freaken scary place...
<<shudder>>
Good Luck!

If you were in the greater Seattle area, you need my lawyer.

And if you think its a joke, its not. Truck & Taxi drivers use this guy because he doesnt lose.

It never happened, no record, no bs.

*sigh*  I got pulled over once for going the speed limit when everyone else was speeding.  You just can't win sometimes.  The cop said I was in "the fast lane" or he might have even called it the "speeding lane" can't remember.  I was like "uuummm.... then why is there a speed LIMIT?!"  He was basically telling me it was illegal to be in the fast lane and be going the speed limit!  Say what?!  Then he got all cocky and said "I'm just going to give you a warning this time though..."

What a................................... nevermind.

Sometimes I think they MAKE up rules.  I thought that in your case, you were doing the right thing, by keeping up with traffic you weren't "getting in the way" of the other drivers.  Can't win for losing, Glocklady.

Glad the cop was cute.  Tee hee.  Thalooshlabob.

Lucky you aren't in VA.  Anything over 80 is wreckless driving here, no matter what the speed limit is.

Damn SZ, hope it don't come to that.

Best of luck my friend.

As we all know the cost of the ticket itself is chump change, but your insurance cost in the years to come could be real harsh, never miss the chance to somehow reduce the charges even though it might cost you missed work /attorney fees.A couple of points against your DL might not seem to be a problem if you have a clear record now but if something else happens in the future (fenderbender whatever-shit happens)you might wish you had fought harder for those couple of points.
Oh yeah,do I have to warn ya to pay attention and not let the po po catch you doing anything wrong in the future ? J/K   Good luck!
