My friend's son in Iraq was shot yesterday.  It's not a horrible wound [sounds as if he'll be fine] but she is worried sick and news isn't too forth coming.  Please keep Ryan Bennetto and his mother Terri in your prayers.

He is in my prayers,  and I assume he his on his way home.

Tell him thanks for the sacrifice he has made for our country.

Hope his mother copes well,  I am sure she is rather upset also.

Thank you, from what I'm told he should fine.  I'm not sure if he's coming home or not.  Knowing Ryan he won't leave if he doesn't have too but please keep his mother in your prayers too.  She's dying a horrible death of fear.

Here's her email:

I'm at work.  I'm a wreck but there's nothing I can do about it.  I wish I could think of something I could DO because being busy would help.

News just came through that yesterday Ryan was shot in the calf.  It is only a flesh wound.  He is in a hospital in an unknown location (unknown because Cory didn't think to ask) where they removed the bullet, stitched him up, and put him on antibiotics.  He called Cory because he didn't have any phone numbers with him.  He seemed to be in good spirits.  That is all I know at this point.

Thank you, I can't imagine what she's going through.  She's a tough bird though!  Patty

I imagine these situations are hardest on the moms.

I'll pray for them both.

Got an email from Ryan's Mom this morning:

By the time I left work yesterday, I felt very serene. [power of prayer I tell ya!] I talked with an officer at the La Grande Armory this morning and he said that Ryan was being returned to duty today so I am really counting my blessings.  Apparently he was unable to sleep and was walking around the compound at 3:30 in the morning when he was shot.  I also think I was incorrect when I said he was shot in the calf, I think it was more like his shin but regardless, it was not a serious injury and that's the important part.  Yes, I'm hanging in there but am planning on taking a couple of days off next week, I've got some friends coming up from Eugene.  I was looking for an excuse to take time off work!

Thank you for your prayers for Ryan and his Mom.  It's hard to think of this as no big deal, life goes on as usual.
