Hunted north of Chelsea. Not many deer to be seen. One decent buck second day out around 220 yards, then saw some does and fawns for the remainder of the season
. Partly, in my opinion, due to 1. Years of liberal doe permits 2. Crop damage permits (I know the farms we hunt have had close to 60 does shot off in the last three years) 3. EHD, we've found 7 dead deer and heard of more in the area. My partner and I decided during the bow season we weren't shooting does. Told his family not to bother buying doe tags either . I'll be out for the muzzle loader season after following another buddy who drew a bull elk tag for Northern Michigan. Don't have high hopes, our cameras haven't caught many deer and the ones they do catch are mostly nocturnal. |
