Ok now that i am posting this in the correct forum. If you have an item that is considered an evil accessory on backorder in the event of a ban, will your backorder be fufilled or are you just shit out of luck.

Wasn't this asked and answered already?

Without reading the actual law, we can't say. They could ban everything or they could ban the transfer only. etc etc. Impossible to guess at this point.

I thought you posted a thread like this in GD, I could be wrong. I know I've responded to one of your threads recently....

No, I did mistakenly post it in the AR discussion forum but it was locked before any responses.

As a hard, fast rule,  nobody can predict how a given bill will affect you yet, particularly when that bill hasn't even been written yet, to say nothing of actually becoming a law.

If you are unaware of the details of the long, complex process by which some stupid,
hare-brained idea hatched by some stupid, hare-brained politician goes from idea to law,
then you should study up on basic civics and the lawmaking process.

I guess if it were written "all sales and transfers shall cease immediately" then i guess everyone is S.O.L., which i would imagine to be the case. If they allowed all orders to go through just not allow any new orders that would make alot more sense. With the economy the way it is, the manufacturers of these mags would be in some serious hot water with a ton of overstock and nothing to do with them. I would not be suprised if that was the case just so those libs could bankrupt those in the firearms industry.

The reason I ask this question is because I was too young to own an AR rifle during and prior to the last AWB, so I guess my question would be how did it work last time the AWB happened? I was 11 in '94 so AWB didn't concern me, all I cared about was Batman and Ninja Turtles

ATF got the serial number of the last receiver made on 09/12/1994 from each manufacturer.  If the number on the receiver was before that one, the receiver was designated "pre-ban", otherwise it was "post-ban".  And yes, I know legally if the receiver wasn't built out then it technically wasn't a pre-ban.  In reality it was too hard for the government to prosecute those cases so they didn't bother.

So, to answer your question, if you place an order for a rifle with tons of evil features, it's backordered for six months, and theoretically a ban worded the same as the 1994 ban gets passed next week, you're SOL.

So is anything purchased after the "sunset" and before the forthcoming ban,  considered preban also.  AR purchased (and in Hand) today and in six months Obama reinstates the ban is the owner in the clear.

let the flaming begin.
