Sale of a firearm other than a long gun to a resident of another state requires the transfer to go through an FFL in the recipient's state. If it didn't, it's a Federal violation.
There really is no way to rectify it. If you knew the person well enough, you could pick it up from them and then go to an FFL in their state and do the transfer as if it were the first time. But technically, you would have participated in yet another FTF transaction that should have gone through an FFL. Unless you have some reason to expect a visit from the alphabet boys, and couldn't suddenly remember selling it to an in-state resident at the last gun show, I would then suggest a deletion of this thread. But that's just my opinion... And it's moot anyway since this never happened.... Woody (FFL) |
