The Caliban now have yearly renewal dates on all guns that passed the BS-15 test.  Manufacturers must re-registered each gun every year for some $$$$$ amount.  Although I would consider this a form of mob style extortion, I suppose the Caliban consider it a legal yearly renewal.

That comes as a surprise to me.  I was not aware of an annual renewal for approved firearms.

I did some looking and found what the annual fee is for.  It's not to re-test the firearm (which costs $2,000 plus the gun IIRC).

From the Caliban Penal Code:

12131.  (a) On and after January 1, 2001, the Department of
Justice shall compile, publish, and thereafter maintain a roster
listing all of the pistols, revolvers, and other firearms capable of
being concealed upon the person that have been tested by a certified
testing laboratory, have been determined not to be unsafe handguns,
and may be sold in this state pursuant to this title.  The roster
shall list, for each firearm, the manufacturer, model number, and
model name.
[b](b)  (1) The department may charge every person in this state who
is licensed as a manufacturer of firearms pursuant to Chapter 44
(commencing with Section 921) of Title 18 of the United States Code,
and any person in this state who manufactures or causes to be
manufactured, imports into the state for sale, keeps for sale, or
offers or exposes for sale any pistol, revolver, or other firearm
capable of being concealed upon the person in this state, [u]an annual
fee not exceeding the costs of preparing, publishing, and maintaining
the roster pursuant to subdivision (a) and the costs of research and
development, report analysis, firearms storage, and other program
infrastructure costs necessary to implement this chapter.[/u][/b]

[Emphasis added]

I'd like to know how much they're charging.

Extortion? HELL YEAH IT IS, but then its the Only way for the DOJ to get their Anti-Gun Division running full steam ahead to bust us kalif gun owners.

the cost per year is $200 for each model, which is Sure to GO UP IN PRICE. there is 646 guns listed (as of this date), a few more to come im sure.
$200 x 646 = 129,200 per year

YUP, that should be enough to prosecute a few gun owners every year

You'd be surprised how fast bureaucrats can piss away $129,000 on G&A expenses.
