My apologizies if this is answered somewhere else and I just didn't see it.

When it comes to the forms needed to get a NFA weapon, does the chief law enforcement officer have the right to decline to sign?

The reason I ask is because after reading up on the NFA my understanding is that it was 'explained' as soley a revenue generating.  In which case the officer's signature is just showing that you are paying the proper federal tax for that object.

Would not signing being the same as me trying to pay my property taxes on my house, the government not excepting my payment, and then repossing my house for non payment of taxes?

I'm not a lawyer and don't understand all the finer points of the law and wanted to ask here.

Thanks.
