If you are selling it to an individual in the SAME STATE, they would fill out the Form4 and your information would be listed as the TRANSFEROR. He would do his part, send it in.....wait....wait some more and then the ATF will return the approved transfer to YOU. You then call the individual and tell him to get his gun because its not legal for you to possess it anymore. End of story. You can give the NFA item to a dealer while they wait for their approved Form to be approved(usually a matter of days), it only legally becomes theirs when the approved form in in their name. As far as I know, this is how it works, I have seen it done 3 times. 2 for individual sales and 1 for transferring to a dealer. Please if I am wrong correct me. -TS |
