Hello,
I am planning a trip to visit my father in IL, we may try and go shooting somewhere.  Since I am from PA and we dont need FOID cards what are the legalities of this... also if I take one of my guns there is there anything I need to know?

TIA...

You can transport your guns unloaded, in a case. That is the law.

If you go shooting somewhere in downstate Illinois, you should have no problem. If you are up around Chicago, who knows.

Link to statute (430 ILCS 65):

You won't have any problems. I just don't think you can purchase weapons within the state. You'd have to ship it via FFL to a dealer back in PA.
