Folks,

I might have a lead on a new FN m16a2 barrel and was wondering if they are legal to purchase and own.

I ask because I was under the impression that FN doesn't release their wares to the civilian market.

Thanks,
-Jim

It's just a non-searialized part - no problem owning it ....

I assume it is over 16" long - shorter than that and owning an AR-15 could cause some problems with owning of parts to build an SBR .... constructive possesion ......

I've seen FN uppers for sale at gun shows - people have HK-416 uppers and HK doesn't deal directly with the public ....

Parts come off of post-samples MG's that have been broken down for parts kits .....

some years back these barrels were sold to DPMS; they were an overrun & unfinished...DPMS had them finished & SOME of them chrome lined;  they & several other companies sold these for years...
