Under Federal law an individual may manufacture a firearm for there own use.
The individual can not be a felon or other person barred from owning firearms.

Also, it is illegal to manufacture machine guns, short barrel rifles/shot guns, semi-
auto assault weapons, AOW’s and DD’s with out the proper licence.

Local state laws also vary, so it may not be legal in your state.

Yes, you can built your own semi-auto rifles, so long as they’re
not assault weapons.

In most cases you are not allowed to sell “home built” firearms, unless they are
registered with the ATF.

*** I’m not a lawyer, and this is not legal advise, just my understanding.***

DOH!

I think (uh-oh) that once a manufacturer has stamped the serial number on the registered part of the reciever it can only be "remanufactured" by the original manufacturer.
Several of the main AR15 manufacturers offer such a service.
You send them in your old lower and they send you a brand new one with the old serial numbers on it.
You may want to wade through the endless weg pages that the ATF has or write them a letter asking for clarification.

Righteous Kill,
You can build "assault weapons", that's why The Tannery Shop sells those 80% completed lowers.
It's only in fucked up states like Kalifornicommiscation that you can't.

Yeah, but you could have built one prior to the '94 crime bill.

I thought the AWB was dated 11/89. What's the 1994 law?
