I had an unusual situation that is currently in progress, and I wanted to see if anyone had encountered this before.
On Sunday I ordered a stripped lower from a very reputable website, who makes their own lowers. I completed the transaction with no issues and listed my local FFL, who is also a widely known gun store. I got an email yesterday from the site saying they didn't have that specific location on file, but had other locations from that same company, so I would need to have them send over their FFL info. No problem, that's understandable. So I call the gun store and they have no clue what I'm talking about at the front or back in the guns. I asked to speak to the manager and he said I needed to have the website send them their FFL info and then they would send theirs back to the site. WTF. So I contact the website and they basically the exact opposite, that the gun store needs to send them the info first. While it's not that big of an issue for me to make sure my order gets processed and transferred in a timely manner I also don't feel like I should have to be the middle man. Thoughts? |

My LGS gave me a copy of their FFL to send when ever I internet order. I just got an email that the website received the FFL info. I will say that both sides were very helpful, and at least they took the time to help. It was just weird that both seemed to think the other side was in the wrong asking the customer to be the middleman. Its worth the effort for me cause I have a bunch of furniture that is getting lonely. Lol |

You've learned an important lesson about contacting and asking your receiving FFL first - not all FFLs will do transfers, and you need to know how much they intend to charge you for their service before you commit to it. This will perhaps give you an opportunity to shop around, and find someone who a) may already be on file with the website seller; b) be willing and happy to accept your business; c) now will know to expect an order coming in for you; and d) will tell you what they plan to charge you for their service, and you're OK with that amount. |

Traditionally, the receiving FFL send their copy, and gets an FFL copy from the sending FFL, in return, along with the package. But, their house their rules.
