I have a 1941 Johnson I'd like to put up for sale to US buyers. I live in Canada.

AFAIK, it is illegal to import/sell a 1941 Johnson into the US. I am wondering if the upcomming Protection of Lawful Commerce, S.659, or sunsetting of the AWB will change anything.

Is it the purview of the BATF to know the answers to these questions and provide answers?

It is not illegal to import a 1941 Johnson rifle into the US since it was never officialy adopted by the US military.  The trick is finding an importer to do the paperwork and handle the transfer.

Thanks for the reply. There is a FFl dealer nearby who has helped with importing & exporting guns at least up to about 5 yrs ago. Johnsons go for about $700US up here, but sometimes you can find them cheaper. Dealers have been selling very good Garands for around $150US.
