I have a verified PreBan Colt 9mm lower that is stamped 9mm NATO on the lower receiver. I am wanting to convert it to a PreBan .223 rifle. I went to a local gun smith today and he told me that I could not do that ie. make the stamped 9mm lower into a .223 lower due to the stamping on the lower. Is he full of it or can I do this? Even though the lower is stamped 9mm NATO I would assume that I could legaly make this a .223. Help would be greatly appreciated. |

I don't know the answer offhand, but, there is no restriction that I know of regarding the reverse. In other words, there is nothing wrong, that I know of, with converting a pre-ban, marked "5.56", into a 9mm with a block. Don't see why you can't do the reverse? Anyone? |
