Can/Will a beneficiary collect on a life insurance policy if they instruct the hospital to not treat their spouse for a condition that will evolve into a life threatening / fatal situation, but is at the outset treatable?

What if someone else holds a Healthcare Power of Attourney for the beneficiary's spouse and did not authorize the withholding of care?

Why is the hospital listening to someone who has no legal authority to authorize/prohibit treatment?  Why isn't the sick person speaking up for him/herself?  If (s)he can't, why isn't the POA raising hell?

POA was not initially in the same state as the spouse/patient.

Suitable Hell was raised when POA made it to the hospital and was able to see what was really happening. (POA is an RN - knew how to make staff sit up and listen)

Your answer is in the original contract. As long as the sickness is not an exclusion you're ok. But if you're within the first 2 years of the contract then there could be a problem on the full benefit.
