I thought about this a while back and can't quite phrase it well enough for Google to pin it down. So here we go!

I have a PA license to carry firearms. If I'm carrying and get into a friend's car who does not have a CCW, are they breaking the law? I ask because the firearm is on my person but technically in their car.

As long as YOU are the one in control of the firearm, you're legal.

If you get out of the car, but your friend is in the car, and you leave your gun in the car, you're not (he's not actually).

Go to the office of your PA State Sen, or Rep - they have this book thats about 1/2 inch thick with all the PA gun laws in it, free for the asking.  Lots of lawyer speak in places, but clear enough to understand. It always helps to know the law!

Thanks for clearing that up! I'll have to go pick one of those up.
