I have a postban bushmaster with a sixteen inch barrel.  I was reading the gun laws in TN and it said that a rifle must have a sixteen inch barrel.  So here is the ? can I remove my muzzle break and still have a legal rifle?  I do not believe that the end of the barrel is threaded but I'm not 100% sure.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  TIA.

If the barrel is 16" without the muzzle BRAKE, it is still legal without the muzzle BRAKE attached.

Your muzzle is probably threaded under the welding and is also pinned in place more than likely. You'll have to remove the threads and have the barrel re-crowned and finished.

Might just look at buying a whole new barrel for less than $100 and installing it yourself.

If you have this rifle...

...your barrel is 14.5" without the brake.  As stated above, you're better off getting a new barrel.
