I have a document that I need to send overseas.  It needs to be signed by someone that is not available to come to the US to sign the document and they have no notaries in their country.  This would discount the use of a power of attorney document (could not be notarized).  Suggestions?  I'm stumped.

I'm also stumped.

Would a Signature Guarantee, from a bank officer, be acceptable? Most banks do this.

There are sometimes state laws about how to handle verifying overseas signatures. In most countries there is the equivalent of a notary and you have to provide a translation. I looked it up a million years ago when I needed an affidavit from some foreign country million years ago.  Course in Somalia or somewhere like that, who knows?

How about calling the country's embassy in the US?

They can probably get it notarized at a US embassy or consul. If in the military, the JAG should be able to take care of this.

I didn't think of the embassy, that's a good place to start. An international law firm with US offices might be another option.
