email JLA I still have the original AR15 watch http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/3600/ar15watch.jpg Ver nice. I like the idea of a BFL though. Simple, yet says soo much. |

Well, I guess we will all need to discuss the features of the watch first. I suggest the following, 1. nobody is diving with this thing so just make it water proof to the depths that my ears can handle. 2. needs to have the option of manual wind, to satisfy me and all of the SF folks. 3. It would be nice to see an upgrade to the normal pins that secure the strap. Maybe some sort of bar that could be unscrewed from the watch instead of the cheap spring loaded pins. 4. add your own requirments........... |

I don't own 87 watches for every occasion, and I Dive, so water proof to at least 130 feet but preferably 150 would be a requirement for me to buy one. When my watches die and need replacing, that is the top requirement. ABSOLUTELY |

Quoted: If the site really wants to get in on this, Whoever is organizing should probably contact Fossil watch company about a special run, or sub watch. If I remember right they did this for the Toyota Supra community and created a 9k tachometer watch. With the priorities you have listed it could probably be done by them for somewhere in the ball park of 100-150. Here is the 10k tach watch and supra emblem watch they did for the supra boys http://www.mvpmotorsports.com/merchant/fossil_supra1.jpg http://www.mvpmotorsports.com/Merchant//catalogpics/mk4/fossil10k2.jpg How's that quote go? "Those that don't know history are destined to repeat it" |

"Those that don't know history are destined to repeat it" If something happened with fossil I apologize, I have had a few of their watches and they have worked, not my first choice but for a cheap, everyday alternative watch that looks decent and works I haven't been disappointed, YMMV though. With that said I understand that they are NOT Tag-Heuer, or even Bulova, but I really think that getting either of those companies or even seiko to do a special run is a little far fetched and would be WAY too costy for the average ARFcommer. Just thought I would throw around some ideas to get the ball rolling, didn't wanna turn it into a huge mess. ![]() ETA: Wait a second I think the puzzle finally clicked, is that who did the first run watches? I take it they screwed up and fucked up the previous AR15.com watches and that is why you posted the previous comment. I wasn't around for the previous watch so I didn't know, sorry carry on |

ETA: Wait a second I think the puzzle finally clicked, is that who did the first run watches? I take it they screwed up and fucked up the previous AR15.com watches and that is why you posted the previous comment. I wasn't around for the previous watch so I didn't know, sorry carry on Fossil didn't do the first watches, and I can't remember who the manufacturer was. I like Fossil watches, I have several of them. ahh, I found an email about the mistakes of the 1st watch. Energizer was the organizer of the group buy. Hello everybody.
(Don't worry!) Last week I discovered that all of the AR15.com watches were not made to specification. But don't worry! It gets MUCH better! The manufacturer has received a watch and has confirmed their error. I have worked out a special deal with the manufacturer for replacement, and then some... This past week or so they have changed their entire line of these watches to meet my specifications, and discontinued the old line. They will now be much more expensive if more were to be ordered in the future, but new pricing is not yet available. I'd appreciate if everyone would lay off the negative comments on this subject, especially if you do not own one of these watches. This manufacturer has realized their mistake, and is doing a lot to make things right. Please do not post a thread or reply about this on AR15.com, or any other online forum. Here are the changes: 1. 100% stainless steel case. (The current cases are plated brass.) 2. Screw-down crown. (While they were retooling for stainless steel, they decided to implement my suggestion since sometimes the snap crown can pop out and the time is accidentally changed.) 3. They are also looking into the luminous hands for better visibility in darkness. Not sure which style hands we will get or if they will change them, but at least they are reviewing the issue. See the attached image for a view of the new case with screw-down crown. Note the hands may not look like the ones pictured. What you need to do: 1. Ship your watch(es) to the manufacturer at the address below. (I recommend that you insure it.) 2. Include a note (see below for template) stating your name, return address, telephone number (optional), and how many watches you included with the package. You might also ask them to size it the way the watches are sized right now, and to ship the extra links with the watch. The manufacturer is to keep a list of who (and how many) has been replaced, so that we can track down others that need replacement. 3. They will swap out the customized parts and place them on a new watch. The new watch will also include a new high precision Citizen movement. 4. Reply to this EMAIL, do not send an IM, indicating when you are sending your watch(es) to the manufacturer. I need to know that you have received my message. **If you gave a watch to someone, it is up to you to inform them. I will try to track them down, but its not guaranteed. I am not sure how long it will take to replace the watches, but they need our watches ASAP. They are manufacturing the cases this week. In the meantime, if you are in the DFW area, meet up with me and we can ship them in one huge box–– I plan to ship them early this week, probably by Wednesday, so let me know ASAP or you will need to send them yourself. Otherwise, please return your watch ASAP to the manufacturer, at this address: Logomark, Inc. Attn: Steve Soffa 1752 Langley Avenue Irvine, CA 92614 |

I would want something tastefully done by MkII watches. IMO anything less would be "trinkety"

Yao initially was known for modding Seiko dive watches, I don't know if he still does. |

Seiko all the way. Have someone design the watch face, then have someone like this guy http://www.bobthayerjr.com/ assemble them. |

The basic problem is there will be two camps... those that want a quality time piece because they are watch collectors and those that want something cheap that anybody could afford. The people who will want a cheap watch would actually LOVE to have the expensive one, but would never be willing to spend that much. The people wanting an expensive watch could easily afford the cheap one, but most likely wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole
Seiko or Citizen... no way. Tissot if an option, absolutely. Custom build on an ETA movement by West Coast Time... sweet. |

Yup, good chance you could get a nice stainless steel cased, ETA auto movement and custom dial for less than $400, probably closer to $300ish. Something like this When something like the M5 is an option for under $400, why would anybody who is serious about watches compromise for a piece of garbage watch? ETA not sure why the link won't go to the right page, click on link for military watches page 1 and you can see the M5. |
