Can anybody help me regarding welding two aluminum pipes together please?

The pipes are about 1/2 in. in diameter and 1/20 in. thick. I can provide pictures if needed.

The pipes are the exost manifold and the mufler from an R/C 1/8 monster truck.

My e-mail is [email protected]

It can be "soldered" with a propane torch using correct type of flux and solder. Look around at the home center or hardware store in the vicinity of the propane torches for the stuff made for aluminum.

Practice first on some scrap aluminum of a similar thickness first. It's pretty easy to melt your parts if you're not careful.

Hmmmm, exhaust manifold for a alcohol fueled RC engine.
I would think that it gets WAAAAAYY too hot to solder or braze it.
MIG welding is the ticket.  A job that small shouldn't cost much.  Just look in the phone book.
My brother in law is a welder, does all types.  It's handy to have one in the family!!

Find someone skilled at T.I.G. welding, which is a specialized variant of M.I.G. welding.  A good T.I.G welder can weld thick aluminum foil.

Sorry, I thought you said "Wedding advice"

It will have to be TIG welded. I would flow a small amount of shielding gas through the inside of the pipe to purge the air, no pressure.

M.I.G.= Metal Inert Gas
T.I.G.= Tungsten Inert Gas.

You definitely need a T.I.G. welder on something that thin.

You will probably find that TIG is the easiest for tubing and will give excellent results, but a lot of the aircraft techs still like to use an oxy-acetylene torch. They use a specialized torch and special flux. Check out www.tinmantech.com

Try this site, look for the aluminum kit, I never used it so I can't vouch for the product but it may serve your purpose.www.solder-it.com/solderpaste.asp
