I got mine for 46 bucks delivered from steep and cheap last june.. Best knife as a daily carry that I have ever had.. I have a sog commander that I use for hunting that is as sharp as the day I bought it 18 years ago.. |

I received the knife today from Amazon.com. $114, which is a pretty good price.
It's very big, which is what I wanted. If there is an assist, it's not very effective. In fact, I don't believe it is assisted, even though some web sites say it is. I have a Flash II, and that knife has a very powerful spring for the assist. It also has a lock to prevent accidental opening. The Spec-Elite II has no such lock. Anyway, overall I like it. The grip is plastic and I can see a case where retention can be a problem if your hands are wet and slippery. This is my major complaint. The grip is plastic and kind of cheesy. They should have used better grip material and/or bolder checkering. Big knives are harder to find, so you get what you get. I wanted a big folder and this is it. |

They are, however, very easy to open. And if I recall, pulling on the lock while the knife is closed will open it about 1/4", making it much easier to flick open. Great knife... You may also like some of the Lone Wolf offerings, the Cold Steel 6" Ti-Lite (be warned, those things are fucking evil and will send you to the OR or morgue for a moments carelessness), the Benchmade Skirmish or LFTi. I personally am a fixed-blades-only man. But for folders, the above are all good choices if you want big. |

Quoted: I won't ever pay the kind of money they ask for fucking plastic. Call it zytel or unobtanium, I don't want it. Look at Benchmade or Spyderco... more bang for the buck. I worked in the knife warranty repair industry for two years. The knives I saw the least had the most plastic. Make of that what you will... I'll take a knife with plastic where it makes sense anyday. Hell, the vast majority of Spyderco and Benchmade knives have plastic handles these days. |

Thanks for the tip. The 6" Ti-Lite AUS8, bead blasted, looks pretty cool. Probably not a good utility knife. |
