So i picked up a 48 volt DC fan tray 2.5 amps it has two screws on the back on one for positive and one for negative.  



i'm not an electrician and i dont pretend to be.  



What is going to be the best, and safest way to power this thing?

With four car batteries!

Just get a regular plug-in DC power supply.  Hit Ebay, and you'll probably find 50 different models.

Depending on the Amperage, you might even be able to get away with a cheap PoE injector or power supply (Power-over-Ethernet spec is 48VDC)

it wouldnt happen to have four fans would it?  if so it's likely just four 12v fans wired in series.

Looks like 9 to me... so its possibly nine 5v fans in series.  A spare computer power supply would easily power the fans if rewired to parallel 5v if that's the case.  Just another option.

With 48 volts DC?
 


48 volts DC is Telephone Line Voltage.  I didn't know fans used that.

48 volts DC is Telephone Line Voltage.  I didn't know fans used that.


it was pulled out of white i think was a telecom rack.  there is a tiny sticker on the front that has a GTE on it as well.
